Many of the sermons were printed in newspapers and contain introductory statements. Also contains sermons Bushnell gave at other churches throughout New England, as well as sermons given by various other pastors. Frequently mentioned is Rev. Matthew C. Julien, pastor of the Trinitarian Congregational Church in New Bedford for 40 years. Other church related articles are included, such as church anniversaries, new church buildings, appointments of new pastors, and pastor's obituaries.
