Young boy's handsewn suit of blue and white plaid wool and silk (?) blend fabric, with double row of narrow red braid edging and trim; jacket (.356a) has short bell sleeves; loose front opening, with brass cufflinks (?) closure at neck; fitted with curved seams on back; slightly pointed tab or tail at bottom on back; short flared skirt (.356b), roughly half circular in shape when flat; oval shaped self tabs applied on front, trimmed with same braid and 3 carved red wooden ball buttons on each; brass ring bases on buttons; same buttons sewn around waistband; back opening, with single button closure on waistband. May also have been worn by a girl; suit dated ca. 1860s according to previous curator. Dimensions for .356a below (width measurement taken across top/outstretched sleeves); .356b measures 14 x 26 1/4 (taken across top when flat).
