Intramural field hockey began in 1954 and became a varsity sport in 1964. The Springfield College field hockey team won the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship in 1999, 2000, and 2005 through 2008. They were Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Champions in 2001.
