A. H. Turner was a director at the Musical Art Society of Springfield and played organ at the Church of the Unity. George E. Day (September 21, 1864-1919) was born in Dana, Massachusetts to Horace James and Mary Jane Chamberlin. Day attended Westfield High School in Massachusetts, and sometime after graduation he published a collection of poetry, “Wild Rose and Thistle” (1885). Day studied at Harvard University from 1908-1909, and graduated from Springfield College in 1893. He served as General Secretary of the Merrimac YMCA in Massachusetts (1890-1891), Field Secretary of Massachusetts and Rhode Island YMCAs (1893-1894), and General Secretary of the Lynn YMCA in Massachusetts (1894-1899). On June 30, 1897, he married Nettle M. Fisher of South Dedham (Norwood), Massachusetts. After his work in Lynn, he served as General Secretary at the Syracuse YMCA in New York (1899-1901), General Secretary at the Malden YMCA in Massachusetts (1901-1905), and General Secretary at the Somerville YMCA in Massachusetts (1905-1911?).
