Phil received Harry's letter and the package with cigarettes, a handkerchief, and gloves, all of which were appreciated. Cigarettes go for just about any price but there are none for sale, and they've been working so steadily there hasn't been any time for washing. The weather has been much like it is in New England. Yesterday it was six below zero and tomorrow it will probably be warm. As a result he's had "a touch of the grippe" (influenza), recently but is doing better now. He hears that Uncle George is not doing well and that his time is likely short. According to Helen, Jay has not been called yet.
