The Trooper, printed daily from Seattle to Yokohama, features national and international news culled from short wave broadcasts of the Armed Forces Radio Service broadcasting from San Francisco. Printed by mimeograph, this special "souvenir edition" includes details about the staff, the ship's crew, the transport ship U.S.S. General M.B. Stewart, disembarking instructions, information about what to expect in Yokahama, and so on, along with line drawings throughout. The newsletter includes a page for troops to write a letter, space Nash has filled with a letter to his parents relating his experience aboard the ship headed for Japan. Entire newsletter is meant to be folded in half, taped shut, and mailed. Nash mailed this copy to his parents.
