Tongs, forged iron, hinged. 16 1/2" long. Forged from round rods flattened at tips and joined by a hinge at handle end. Handle ends are flattened rods that flare out into semi-circles. Handle has an egg-shaped finial. Old label reads, "Toaster / early 19th c. Forged Fe revolving type U-shaped round rod holders. niece [piece?]." Old brown accession ledger reads, "Antique fire tongs, 16 1/2" long." The old number is located on the inside of the circular part of the tong below the hinge - one is in tape and red pen and the other is in black marker, "398". No maker's marks.
