<mods:abstract>This is pamphlet for the Springfield College (at the time known as the International YMCA College) International Service Department. The pamphlet is titled "A College for Leaders: A Springfield Institution Serving the Youth of the World." Given the dates in the pamphlet, it was most likely published around 1935. The pamphlet is created by folds and is really one long sheet with printing on the front and back. The pamphlet mostly has information and photographs on Springfield College students and alum who came from other countries for undergraduate and graduate courses at Springfield College, many of whom were already in the employ of the YMCA in their home countries before they came to school here. There is information on the students, including course work taken and clubs they were involved in. Below each individual are boxes that list other Springfield College Alum who were from or currently working in their home countries. Also included is information on the International program and its costs. Finally there two fold out pages that talk about the International YMCA School in Geneva, Switzerland, which was an affiliated school, including faculty from Springfield College, made by the World's YMCA Committee and Association leaders in Europe.</mods:abstract>
<mods:note>The International YMCA School of Physical Education, located in Geneva, Switzerland opened on September 15, 1927 with an initial group of ten students. It offered a two-year program that trained men for Christian leadership in physical education, games, and athletics. During the 1928-1928 academic year, three Springfield College alumni attended: Robert McKinnon, J. D. Brock, and Francis Hoffman. In accord with the resolution adopted by the World’s Committee on July 30, 1927, the school is governed by an independent board of managers, nominated by the World’s Committee and approved by Springfield College. Furthermore, the school was housed by the College de la Grande Boissiere and ran in close cooperation with the Institut Jean-Jacques Rousseau and the University of Geneva. Elmer Berry, who taught at Springfield College, served as the director of the International YMCA School of Physical Education. In 1930, the institution changed its name to the International YMCA School and broadened their coursework to include general secretaries and boys’ work secretaries.</mods:note>
