Charles D. Todd writes to Lawrence L. Doggett, president of Springfield College, in this four page hand written letter with U.S. Kentucky letterhead. It is dated May 25, 1918. Todd is glad to send his portrait for inclusion at commencement which he is regrettably missing due to being called up for service. He remains positive that he will return and finish his courses. He writes lines describing what fate would befall a "Hunnic" submarine if it's periscope came up for a look around. The fourth page is blank.

Charles D. Todd (1892-1977) was born in Middletown, NY. He atteneded Springfield, Mass., Technical High School and graduated from Springfield college with a B.P.E. degree class of 1918. He did graduate work at New York University and served in the Navy during World War I. He was very active in organizing American Legion, V.F.W. and Masonic orders receiving numerous awards.
