Harvey Shapiro first served as head coach for Springfield College's women's basketball team in the 1976-1977 season. He returned in 1980 to coach the team for two more seasons. In the 1981, Shapiro led the team into their first Northeast-8 Conference season. Shapiro's overall three-season record was .707.
