A portrait photograph of Andrea Underwood, class of 1996 of Springfield College. Ms. Underwood is holding two plaques to commemorate that she finished second in the 3-meter diving event and another plaque for her fourth place on the 1-meter board at the NCAA Division III championships. Her second place was achieved against 39 other competitors. She was All-American in both events (Portland Press Herald, 1996).

Originally from Berwick, Maine, Ms. Underwood was honored as Springfield College’s Scholar Athlete of the year, and senior female Athlete of the year, becoming the most successful diver of the college’s history until that point. She also earned another honor by being named to the 1996 GTE Academic All-America College Division Women’s At-Large second team, with a 3.8 GPA she was the only New England student-athlete to earn a spot on the first or second national squads. Ms. Underwood graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Physical Therapy major and got a Master’s degree from Springfield College in the same field.
