Dark navy wool felt cap with hard black leather brim, gold braid, and brass buttons reading "Boys' Brigade." Sized for a young boy. Brim is lined with leather; cap has an elasticized glazed-cotton lining. Initials "S. V." embroidered at front of cap. Under lining is a disk of hard leather lining crown of cap. Accession book reads, "Cap 'Civll War'--really a boy's cap--buttons say 'Boys Brigade'--A YMCA organization. Initials 'S.V.' within crest, gold braid, navy cap, black hard brim. Boys Brigade was founded 1883.
