A story written by Emily Hitchcock (Edward Hitchcock's daughter, later Emily Hitchcock Terry) as a "composition" assignment about a woman being reunited on New Year's Day with her long-lost husband who had been thought drowned in a shipwreck. A pencil note by Emily written at the top of the document reads, "I have not yet to write another 'Composition' this term."
