Natural history lecture notes by Edward Hitchcock on the subject of geology. Hitchcock lists different rock types along with the number of species of plant and animal remains that have been discovered in that type of rock. He then lists the number of species of animal and plant remains found in different rock types according to [Henry] De La Beche's second edition of "A Geological Manual" and to [Charles] Lyell's "Principles of Geology."
