Behind her, an eagle perches on a rock. Circling the face of the coin are the words: "Montreal Taken MDCCLX - Soc. Promoting Arts amd Commerce". The reverse of the medal contains a male figure, the River St. Lawrence, reclining, leaning against the prow of a ship. He is holding a paddle and a beaver walks over his legs. Above him is a standard bearing the name Amherst, circled by laurel leaves and surmounted by a lion. Beneath the man is a French shield and Native American weapons, lying on their side. Circling the reverse of the medal are the words: "The Conquest of Canada Compleated".
