Description:
A letter book bound in brown leather containing transcribed copies of Jeffery Amherst's correspondence, compiled and bound into one volume. The letters date from approximately April 1778 to October 1778 and were primarily written while Amherst was residing in London, England. Many of the transcribed letters deal with Amherst's role as Commander-in-Chief of British Forces, including the transfer of military commissions and the purchase of supplies for the army in England. The volume contains an alphabetical table of contents and numbered pages.
