Description:
An order book kept by Jeffery Amherst, beginning on October 28, 1742 and ending on February 1, 1743, while stationed in Ghent, Belgium. The book contains Amherst's notes on daily orders given, patrols, and the positioning of troops and officers during marches. Amherst also notes the pay rate of the soliders and disciplinary measures enacted. The book is bound in yellow leather and the cover contains notations by Amherst on the time period covered. The cover also contains a faint sketch of the profile of a soldier wearing a uniform with buttons. The cover is numbered.
