Edward Hitchcock draft letter to unidentified recipient, 1857 June 15
Description:
A draft letter from Edward Hitchcock replying to an unidentified recipient who previously sent Hitchcock a letter in response to reading "The Religion of Geology and its Connected Sciences." In Hitchcock's response, he thanks the recipient for his concern about Hitchcock's soul, but assures the recipient that he has misunderstood Hitchcock's religious principles. Hitckcock attempts to clarify some of his beliefs and corrects some of the recipient's misunderstandings.
