A letter to Edward Hitchcock, Jr., in which Edward Hitchcock writes about a plan the Junior class at Amherst College has to bring lunch to people working on building a new road up Mount Tom and asks Hitchcock Jr., if he could ask the opinions of some Easthampton and Northampton residents to determine their views. Hitchcock also discusses a ceremony that is set to take place that day during which some distinguished men will speak.
