An account of expenses by Edward Hitchcock incurred during a portion of his geological survey of Massachusetts between August and December 1831, and owed to him by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Expenses listed include supplies, postage, and personal expenses for Hitchcock and his assistant, among others. Hitchcock has noted at the bottom of the sheet how much he received from the state for the survey already, and when he sent this account to the Commonwealth.
