A letter to Benjamin Silliman in which Edward Hitchcock discusses the meeting of the Association of American Geologists in Philadelphia, explaining that Silliman was elected as chair for the next meeting. Hitchcock also inquires about some books on geology, including Henry De la Beche's "Geological manual" and John Pye-Smith's "On the relation between the Holy Scriptures and some parts of geological science."
