Notes:
Best went on to play lacrosse at Springfield College (then the International YMCA Training School) in addition to soccer. After graduating in 1911, Best returned to the college to teach Religious Education and Religious Normal Work from 1913 until 1916 when he headed overseas to France as a Senior Officer in the Canadian YMCA War Services during WWI. Best eventually returned to Springfield College in 1937 as president of the college, a position he held until 1945. During his presidency He emphasized the traditions of Springfield College including liberal interpretation of Christianity; the education of the whole person; a continued connection with the YMCA; professional training for youth services staff; international student exchange; racial and religious tolerance; and a continuing emphasis on health, physical education, and recreation.
