Outlining the history of the development of New Salem Academy. The Trustees of NSA have been investigating the potential future options for the academy since it is no longer operating as a school. The last graduation exercises were held in 1968. In June, 1980, the Trustees voted matching funds to obtain a grant from the Massachusetts Historical Commission, and then contracted with the Architectural Conservation Trust to perform a study of the property and to recommend to the Trustees possible uses for the facilities.
