Boston Ryan White CARE act title I planning council meeting
Description:
Transcript of a meeting featuring members of the Planning Council and representatives from local organizations. Jennifer Burgess-Wolfrum announces that she has resigned from the Cambridge Cares About AIDS organization, but has been voted onto their Board. There is a discussion about the expanded Eligible Metropolitan Area, specifically about what restrictions there are on Title II funds and where they can be used; there is mention of filing a lawsuit regarding this. Funding priorities for Year IV are reviewed and recommendations are made, including ideas for funding more mental health services and substance abuse services, transportation, peer support, housing related services. Another discussion has to do with funds allocated to services for gay and bisexual men, and asks that the Department of Health & Hospitals review the demographic data and look at unmet service needs for those populations. Exhibits include memorandums, preliminary recommendations for Ryan White Title I Year IV priorities, service priorities as ranked by the Planning Council, projected allocations of Year IV funds by service category, and a presentation addressing the transportation needs of people with HIV/AIDS in Boston and Cambridge. A word index is also included.
