Clint writes that a lack of anything interesting report and the cold room he has to stay in make writing difficult, but he can at least write about how much he loves Rhea. His old "bunkie," a captain, was up before a court martial on Friday for mistreating an enlisted man and has been under arrest for the last month. Clint doesn't think he will be punished too severely, since an order came in to release him from arrest. He asks her if she'd like an iron cross as a war souvenir and says that he has a spiked helmet he'll be taking back with him when he returns. He was listening to some entertainment a few nights ago when he realized they were playing "Souvenir" on violin and piano (possibly "Souvenir in D Major" by Frantisek Alois Drdla) which they used to hear Maud Powell play. Rhea surely knows where his thoughts went, and for a few minutes he was no longer in Germany.
