Martha has heard from Clinton about his early return, and thinks that she may even receive a telegram from him this week saying that he has landed. She received a letter from Boyd saying that he's been offered the position of manager of the Iowa branch of the Northern Trust Co. and he might be opening an office in Des Moines or Davenport, which Martha would prefer to him continuing on with a military career. Her boarder will be leaving in two weeks, and Martha hopes she remembers to take her music with her since it is "sloppy, mushy stuff." She writes about other family happenings, including her birthday.
