Brent is relieved to hear that Hal has recovered from his bout of influenza and sad to hear that Irene Wood has died. He writes about many topics, including the shipwreck at Fort Morgan, Hal's raise, Molly's work caring for the parents of servicemen, and the course of the war. Bulgaria, Turkey, and Austria have surrendered, but Prussia and Germany are still fighting. German planes dropped thousands of "circulars" on them and he is hoping to save one as a souvenir. Winter is nearly there and the weather has gotten wet and cold.
