Brent reflects on his 41st birthday and feels that he is generally satisfied with his life. Although he would return home if he could do so honorably, he feels fortunate to be present for such interesting period and a part of the greatest war in history. He lists some of his varied life experiences and feels blessed by two families in his parents and his children. He reflects further on his life experiences, from his mother and his Christian upbringing to his experiences of war and his hopes for the future.
