Letters exchanged by family members from c. 1842-1898; family photographs; diary pages; and assorted papers. Writers include John Adams Kenrick (1801-1870); Mary A. Kenrick Taylor (1835-1900); Anna C. Kenrick (1845-1900); Alice Stanley Taylor Ayres (1866-1933); Dr. Amos Taylor (1785-1865); Polly Day Taylor (1789-1873); Amos Ashman Taylor (182-1867); Lucy Fay; Lucy Mayo Fay; Samuel Fay, Jr.; and Sarah Taylor Fay (1816-1876). John Adams Kenrick (1801-1870) was the son of John Kenrick, Esq. (1755-183), founder of Nonantum Nurseries. Upon his father's death, John Adams Kenrick inherited the family home while his brother, William Kenrick (1789-1872) inherited the nursery. John Adams Kenrick and his family lived in the Durant-Kenrick house (now 286 Waverley Avenue), which was purchased by John Kenrick, Esq. in 1790 from William Fisher. William Kenrick ran the nursery business until his retirement in 1856, after which John Adams Kenrick took over and ran it under the name of Nonantum Dale Nursery until his death in 1870. There is evidence in this collection that after John Adams Kenrick's death, his daughters, Mary M. Kenrick Taylor and Anna C. Kenrick, managed the family business. A finding aid is available.
