This photograph depicts the members of the class of 1898 of International YMCA Training School, now Springfield College. All the men portrayed in this photograph are wearing suits. According to the customs of the time some look straight at the camera, while some others look at the sides. Notice how men touch each other casually as a symbol of congeniality and camaraderie. It is believed this portrait was taken by Van Norman.
