He became Springfield's director in 1978 and stayed until 1983. As the director, he coordinated the activities and programs of the Doggett Memorial International Center. Dr. Fu received a diploma and certificate from St. Paul's College in Hong Kong in 1968 and a Bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College in 1971. He was then awarded a Master's degree from Springfield College in 1973, and a Doctorate in Physical Education from Springfield in 1975. In 1979, Dr. Fu visited Hong Kong to lecture students on physical education programs and the differences among them from country to country. He worked to promote and establish foreign exchange programs.
