This photograph portrays Alfred Stokes, class of 1898 of the International YMCA Training School, now Springfield College. Although Mr. Stokes began working with the YMCA in 1894, after graduation he accepted the position of General Secretary at the facility in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and remained there until 1901. From 1904 to 1906 he served as General Secretary to the Kingston, Ontario YMCA facility and from 1907/08 until 1909 was Secretary at the Toronto, Ontario West End YMCA branch. Then, from 1911 to 1914 her was at the YMCA Brooklyn Central branch performing Religious work. From 1915 until 1919 he served at the Stamford, Ct. YMCA as Secretary and from 1920 to 1922 he performed "Y" work in France. Stokes died March 19, 1947.
