Woman's corset of light brown linen; ribbed with narrow wood or whalebone strips, and lined with coarser linen fabric; ribbing outlined in very even topstitching (almost looks machine done); mostly vertical ribbing and stitching, with a few cross pieces forming decorative patterns; back closure with eyelets for laces (not present); V-shaped panel on front, with eyelets at top for laces (not present); sharp point on lower front, reinforced with thick piece of wood; rounded front neckline, pointed on either side at shoulders (remnants of shoulder straps); roughly V-shaped tabs (squared off at bottoms) around lower front and sides; "A WATERS 1776" written inside on lining; narrow braid/tape trim over main seams; twill tape binding on edges (missing or remnants on most edges).
