A plaque made from a wooden board, 11¼” x 26¾” x ¾” with a crudely carved bird, its head turned to look backward, and the incised names of African Americans enslaved in Newton, surrounded by a carved border of a broken chain. Screws in the back hold wire for hanging the plaque. Made by Newton peace activist Louise Bruyn, with carving assistance from Mary Spitzer.
