By-laws and constitution, board and committee meeting minutes, programs, membership lists, correspondence, and other papers of the Newton Mothers' Club (1904-1987). Originally formed to promote education and improvement in the areas of childrearing and motherhood, the club shifted in focus by the 1940s to "charitable, social, and educational activities," donating funds to numerous nonprofits. Minutes of the club's Hospitality Committee (1976-1987) includes recipes for casseroles and salads served and sold at club meetings. When the club disbanded in 1987, donations of $1,000 each were made to the Newton Community Center (for its children's area) and to the Jackson Homestead (for a children's gallery).
