Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción purchased the former Shawmut Congregational Church which had been gutted by fire in 1978, and developed a 27-unit mixed-income condominium project on the site. They called the new building Taino Tower, after the original inhabitants of Puerto Rico. The project maintained the church tower and the church's original arched doors. The condos were ready to be put up for sale in 1991. This picture shows the side of the newly constructed building that runs parallel to Tremont Street, as well as brick row houses further down on Tremont Street.
