Description:
An alley runs alongside a brick wall on one side, and then past the ruins of a former church, whose roof is covered with a blue tarp. A child walks down the alley towards a Villa Victoria house which is visible at the far end. The Shawmut Congregational Church (built 1864) was gutted by fire in 1978. Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción purchased the church and developed it into affordable homeownership condominiums and ground-floor commercial space. The housing was called Taino Tower after the Taino, the native inhabitants of Puerto Rico. The first condos went up for sale in 1991.
