Description:
Alan Leon Pond, Class of 1919, poses in his football uniform with helmet in hand on the playing field during his junior year. A popular left halfback in football but also a basketball and baseball player, he enlisted in the war in July 1917 and served with the 14th U.S. Engineers (Railway), A.E.F. France, at Arras-Cambrai, Fismes and Cha^teau-Thierry. He was discharged in January 1919 and returned to Massachusetts Agricultural College, but died of pneumonia in 1920. "Allan Leon Pond 1919" handwritten on back.
