Formal portrait of Frederick St. Clair Herrick, Class of 1871. After graduation he bought a farm in Methuen (Massachusetts) and turned it into a model farm which was often honorably mentioned in State agricultural reports. He was offered a professorship at Massachusetts Agricultural College, which he declined. He died of cancer on January 19, 1884. "Yours very truly, Fred. St. C. Herrick, Lawrence, Mass, April 17th '71, Class '71" signed on back. "M.A.C. Collection, Library of the Massachusetts Agricultural College, Amherst, Mass." stamped on back. Logo of "J.L. Lovell" printed on back.
