Louisa Gass had been nervous that her daughter Sadie Kessel may have lost all of her money and/or spoiled all of her clothes and was relieved to hear from Sadie, though saddened by how depressed she had seemed and promises to send money soon. Louisa talks about the household chores she and Sadie's papa have been completing. She also discusses her lesson plans and the classes she has been teaching. Louisa goes on to talk about recent happenings in town and notes that the Linell family has quit dancing and card playing. She also discusses the Missionary Society and the people involved in the society. She notes one individual wears a ridiculous hat that makes her look comical.
