Memorandum from Hiroshi Kurihara to Mark H. McCormack
Description:
Hiroshi Kurihara writes McCormack a confidential memo with information he received from Marubeni. He explains that a daughter of Mr. Takii, an owner and chairman of Paris Company, was killed in the Japan Airlines crash on August 12th, and that this occurred on the same day that Mr. Takii's brother arrived in Hawaii with his friends for a vacation. Mr. Takii's brother had scheduled to go to look at Kapalua while he was there and learned about his neice's death upon arriving at the hotel so he returned to Japan without staying. Kurihara indicates that the Paris Company is owned by the Takii family and they are concerned about the conicidence of Mr. Takii's visit and his neices' death occurring on the same date. He explains that by the Buddhist religion, the family must remain quiet by the date of 49 days after the death date, and that Mr. Takii has not been doing any business matters as he is dealing with his grief. He explains that it might take longer until Mr.Takii can return to work and for them to finalize the contract.
