“Men of Muscle (1948)” is a promotional video for Springfield College in Springfield, MA by Bay State Film Productions. The film is dedicated to the men and women who work with youth and promotes Springfield College as a place to go to pursue careers in these fields. It starts with the narrator, Bruce Kern, describing a young man trying to determine the right career to pursue. The young man talks to his guidance counselor, who recommends Springfield College to him. The video then transitions into describing the wide array of academic, athletic, and social activities Springfield College can offer to those interested in youth work. Interestingly enough at this time Springfield College's Official name was the International YMCA College, and Springfield College would not officially be its name till 1954. The video shows, though, that in everything except for the official listing of the name, both the students and the world knew it already by Springfield College. Note, there may have been other versions of this promotional film made for different years.
