This lantern slide, “Clearing Store at Railroad in Charleroi, Belgium (1917?),” shows a group of about fourteen soldiers, members of the 1st Australian Division, standing around the open door of one of three transportation cars. Couillet is a suburb of Charleroi, which during World War I was one the principal commercial cities of Belgium. This slide is part of a collection depicting Australian YMCA war work during World War I.
