Description
A portrait photograph of Susan Preston Draper, the second wife of General William F. Draper. They were married in 1890 and had one child, Margaret Preston Draper. Susan Preston Draper was the daughter of Major General William Preston of Kentucky and the sister of Jessie Preston Draper who married George Albert Draper. William Preston had been a Major General in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. This is perhaps the only case on record of a General of the Union Army marrying a daughter of a General of the Confederate Army.
