Description
respect! that is, not over tax or abuse your powers & faculties whether of mind or body, but give them their rightful experience & rest, as far as in you lies. I know the fine and lovely traits of your character better than most, because from many you conceal them with a roughness & an obstinacy that is misdirected. Your mother sees through it all and is sure that as your character develops, the good will come uppermost more & more. -
You cannot then hide the delicate & fine impulses of your nature. & I am sure you will not willfully pervert them. Be gentle & Loving to your father & brothers for my sake, as you generally are, for theirs.
I shall await you in heaven with loving pride in all the good you do & all the you conquer. [?] to all Eternity I shall be, as now, one who blesses & cherishes you in her [inmost] heart.
Your most loving Mother.
