Photos show views of the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial, a granite column erected in 1902 to commemorate Wakefield's Civil War casualties. The monument is located on the Common approximately opposite Bryant Street. It was funded by a $10,000 bequest from the will of local resident Harriet Newell Flint. The band stand is visible in the background of the first photo.
