Description
John M. Parkhurst, Grocer, Dana Block on Main Street. Sign on building shade also says Clothing Express. Thomas P. Emerson, owns Watertown, Mt. Auburn and Boston Express. Charles and Isaac V. Bemis, both lawyers, have an office in the Dana Block. David T. Huckins, a dentist and physician, also had an office there. Pequossette Lodge of Free Masons met on the second floor which met on "Thursday evening, on or after the full moon in each month, July and August excepted." Pequossette Ladge was founded on December 23, 1857. In 1870, a dedicated hall was built in the "new" Noyes' Block. Also meeting in Dana Block was the Relief Fire Association the first Friday of the month. Watertown Literary Institution met every Wednesday at Institution Hall, Dana Block. Benjamin Dana built the Dana Block. Dana was an early member of the Pequossette Lodge of Free Masons.
