Description

Dry goods store of Otis Brothers, Horace and Ward. . They had clerked for Wheeler and Traine and bought the store in 1866 for a three year lease. In 1869 they moved the business to Watertown Square. Twenty years later, 1889, they bought up more property on Main Street to the corner of Spring Street and built the Otis Block. The business nearly doubled the following year and they incorporated in 1907. Ten years later the brothers retired. The space at the right was once occupied and owned by Whitney's Candy Store. Across was T. Patten's harness Shop with the town scales in front. Photo taken circa 1869 in the winter.
