Description

William H. Pevear & Co., dealers in coal, wood, hay, straw, brick, and sand. The first office was at 36 Main Street (C.W. Barry) and later moved to 5 Spring Street. The company started out as William H. Pevear and Howard Russell but by 1893, Pevear owned it completely. Note electric light poles, horses, and wagons, circa 1874. William H. Pevear was born on Irving Street in 1850 resided there for eighty full years. He was a Baptist Deacon for thirty-one consecutive years staring in 1899.
