Description
Looking from Riverside Place toward the buildings at the lower end of Main Street and Riverside Place. Molding-shop of the foundry at right. Stores, left to right, shown are E & J Nolan Bros., a blacksmith (sign with horse and "Shoes" on it): Edward C. Nolan d. 1921. James C. Nolan died in 1899. The address was Beacon Square and then later 8 Arsenal St. Their parents were Mary and Martin J. Nolan. Martin J Nolan started the blacksmith shop. Benjamin W. Tuck had a business over Nolan's and he was a painter. William H. Perkins, flour, grain, hay, straw - a grist mill at 18 Main Street. George A. Page, interior painting, hardwood finishing, at 6 Main Street, corner of Riverside Place. J.F. Ham, Beacon Square, 1 Riverside Place, a blacksmith. The blacksmith was run Joseph F. Ham and the Town Directories list him from 1880 to 1897.
